Wow! I guess this is a tale to tell the grandchildren..

So she seems to have posted that in February when the kilometer 82 - Machu Picchu trail is closed. From the towns she names I am guessing she was on a different Inca Trail than the "famous" one (I don't want to use the wrong word here).

In any event did we ever luck out in early January. Hardly any rain at all. That would be terrifying.

I see now she refers to it as the Inca Jungle Trail, which offers 40k of downhill mountain biking. Now that would be something in rainy season.

the Inka Trail is closed all feb. Sort of a back door route to MP through Santa Theresa(nice hot springs) to MP but not
the true Inka Trail in any way. Just a cheapo alternative easily self guided from personal experience.

February is the worst time to do the inca jungle trail....Actually, the trail was closed from santa teresa, hidroelectrica for landslides....Do not advise that route during heavy rainy season....

They do look like a bunch o idgits. The kind of fools that put rescuers and locals at risk.
