Hi,
Have you been to Concepcion, Paraguay? If so, then let me know if you think the city is anything special-compared to other colonial towns in South America? Do you think it is worth going out of your way to see? If possible, please provide me with a link to a website that shows me good photos of Concepcion. Thanks. Charlie

Hi there. I have spent quite a bit of time in Conception, and absolutely love it. It does have very beautiful small town colonial architecture, but if you are interested only in the architecture, it is not worth going out of your way as it is not much different than what you can find in many much more easily accesible cities all across latin america.
The reason i DO think its worth going out of your way for, is that Concepcion, and all of Paraguay for that matter, has a completely different vibe than any other country in latin america. It is truly unique, and so overlooked. The Guarani culture (which is the indigineous peoples of the area) is so prevelant (95% of the population speaks the language, the majority much more often then spanish, only 70% speak spanish at all, and that drops to about 50% outside of Asuncion)
I apologize, i clicked post before i wa done by mistake.
Contd: that it really feels like a different culture than latin america in many ways. And of course this changes EVERYTHING about the city. It changes the way it feels to walk down the street, have a bite to eat, interact with the locals (which by the way, i find Paraguayans to be the friendliest peole i have EVER met), everything. Another plus will be that you will likely be the only tourist there, which is always a plus.
Sooo...basically, if you are interested in the architecture more than anything, yea its beautiful, but skip it because is nothing special. But if you're interested in experiencing a completely different and unique culture right smack in the middle of Latin America, Conception is an amazing place to visit.
Here is a mediocre video about concepcion, but better than any picture gallery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kMv1RAgfuQ
