Cheapest airline/flight combo -Vancouver to Rio-

Cheapest airline/flight combo -Vancouver to Rio-

I'm looking for a discount airline, or cheap flight connection(s) from Vancouver, Canada to Belo Horizone, near Rio De Janeiro, in Brasil for this January/February.

Every airline, or website I've looked at offers complicated itenaries, often with 2, or 3 stops, and costs in the thousands of dollars for a return flight.

There are some cheap connections within Brasil, South America, or from Europe, but North America to Brasil is expensive.

My question is what's the cheapest flight/airline out there, with the least connections (or overall flight time) that gets me from Vancouver to Belo Horizonte, (or at least Rio).

Thanks.

This might be the kind of question you need to ask a travel agent. I only have a choice of two airlines flying from Sydney: LAN Chile or Argentina's airline. LAN is what most people recommend flying south to south.

I think Susan is right. A travel agent will be the best source of info about this.

Do you think maybe you're expecting too many things to fall into place here?

I can't believe you're going to do this in anything less than two conenctions. Vancouver-Belo Horizonte isn't exactly New York-London. Even only going as far as Rio, I'd be surprised if you could get less than two connections. I know every additional connection adds inconvenience to the itinerary, and compounds the potential for problems for misconnections, but sometimes you have to accept them.

January and February are prime travel times to Brazil: winter in North America, summer in South America. That means higher prices.

Oh people, don't expect Sandy to debase himself by using a travel agent! He is a proponent of the couch surfing lifestyle - even hotels are anathema to him. He provides recipes, secrets, and opinions to his hosts in exchange for being able to stay with them. His mom finances his travels for the most part.

Sandy - what happened? You're back in Vancouver - you said you had no plans to return to Canada before your passport expired! You have a whole bunch of folks on the Europe forum wondering how you fared getting around immigration in Oslo.

Momliz,

No, not just Europe and not just here - Asia and Africa as well.

And not just Fodor's but at least four other sites have had identical questions from Sandy (or other names)!
