Affordable apts with gorgeous city views are all rented for next month and what's left are overpriced (for us) at $1000/week. Since we can't get what we're looking for, we're going 180 degrees and thinking, save the money to buy shoes, purses, and luggage.
This is $300/week -- your honest thoughts?

If I can convince my friends to go beyond their budget, we could share this 2 br "penthouse loft" across from Palermo Viejo Plaza for $1100:

I like the Thames and Guatemala the best of these choices. $360/week

That neighborhood is chock full of good shoe and bag stores too
thanks miss scarlett. Yes Thames/Guatemala newer and more nicely appointed -- but no balcony/outdoor space making me hesitate. We like to have a drink outside or we occasionally smoke when traveling and don't want to feel shut in at home.
Is the 1st one skimping too much? (can't believe I went from $890 to $285/week.....)
Have you checked the city views from www.shortstayinba.com ? I love this neeighborhood and apartment....rates vary by week, but are always more than $285 but less than $1,100....probably less than the $890 you had planned to spend...
I like the looks and location of the Gurruchaga & Soler apartment -- it's adorable and love the terrace! My only negative would be the 2 levels and the steps (if you have to go up and down them from the sleeping area to get to the bathroom).
Overall - I say -- save the $$ (are you going to Buenos Aires to experience the city or are you going to visit an apartment?). As long as you can sleep and bathe in comfort -- what more do you really need?
Be sure it is a smoking apt .. the laws have gotten more strict here about smoking and going out on the terrace in a non-smoking apt will be a problem.
I love the apt that dr dawggy suggested !
thanks everyone -- we ended up in the cheapest apt on soler/gurruchaga.... i'm trying to not be sad, have low expectations, and hope for the best and that i'll come to love the apt's little quirks. (like the staircase that promises to have my leg fall right through a step in the middle of the night, etc)
I will definitely report back with some additional pics, however, as it seems to be a good possible budget apt for the forum.
on to the trip....
Believe me, you will be out in the city more than inside that apartment. As long as it is clean and quiet and cool, you will be fine. You have a nice view and the little terrace, just go careful on the steps lol
get a little night light to put down stairs for you at night..
I am sure you are going to have a wonderful time and that little apt will be something you will remember fondly many years from now.
