Cabs OUTSIDE our EZE international airport
Yours truly and other helpful posters have been warning for YEARS, on this and other fora, to only board transportation which can be PREPAID in an official-looking booth, particularly AVOIDING cabs waiting outside the airport, when leaving our EZE international airport.
There are several firms which offer this service, ranging from http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/resultados/busqueda/remis/ to http://www.taxiezeiza.com.ar/spa/tarifas
This is the kind of thing that can happen when you disregard this advice:

Have a great time in our country.

BTW, also avoid the cabs waiting outside our local AEP airport.
In fact, avoid ALL cabs waiting outside touristy spots, particularly tango shows. Have a radio taxi CALLED for you, or, in the day time, walk half a block and hail a cruising cab, making sure the driver's ID is hanging from his front seat.
That said, almost ALL our cabbies are great, hard-working guys, but the few bad apples congregate outside the places I have mentioned, waiting for unsuspecting tourists.
Have a great time in my town.

A top TA DE reminded me to add the Buquebus terminal to the list of places where cabs waiting in line should be avoided.
The cruise ship dock is even worse, but I don't know much about it.
Anyway, these places are obviously covered by my "touristy spots".
One way to play it safe is to ask your hotel to pick you up. Obviously it will cost a little more, but there should be no chance at all of being scammed.
Have a great time in my town, heeding the good advice offered in this and other fora.

Everyone needs to "mind" the Rooster. Tienda Leon was our ride of choice. It's been a few years, but when we visited we booked them up front and online.
Thanks for the repeat warning from Av. The schlock guys will also get you when you get off Buquebus coming back from Colonia.....beware.

Re taxi scams:
I suspect I was not making total sense for some folks. We booked Tienda online for a transfer from EZE to BA.
I'm not sure how to get a non-scam cab from Buquebus...........others will tell you. Also don't know if there's a hotel close to the Buque terminal....................hotels are usually good about getting you a non-scam cab...........they don't want poor feedback.
We also called a cab company for cabs from our rental apartment, and again, I don't think you'll get scammed that way because it could get back to the company.
We had a scare once when a driver went over a half mile out of what we thought was a correct route to get us home. When we called him out, he got us back to the apartment quickly.
We had restaurants get us cabs a couple of times, and again never a problem. It's the bad apples that mess it up.
Look at your maps and know where you need to be.
