I'm traveling to Buenos Aires December 2012 (final destination Antarctica Expedition). I live in New Orleans and trying to determine the best travel experience (route, less hassles and layover time). I understand the gateway to BA from the US is Miami, but I've often heard traveling from Miami can be a nightmare. I've checked several flights and it appears Miami also has the worst connection times (up to 5 hr layovers). Does anyone have any experience traveling from one of the other cities listed or can provide advantages of traveling to/from Miami.
Thanks
Robin

Robin - I'm in Baton Rouge and have gone to Bs As twice in the past two years. First time was via Houston on Continental (now United), great trip, departed on time, good connections for me.
Last year was via Dallas on American - flight took off over an hour late due to pulling a non-showing passenger's luggage off the plane, seats did not have individual movie screens, but the price was better.
This fall, I'm back on American since price was considerably cheaper than United.
I avoid Miami like the plague, no direct flights from here, customs is usually chaotic, connections are bad. Unfortunately I have to fly Miami-Manaus on TAM next month - fingers are crossed!
Hope this helps.
Thanks Colibri,
Helps a lot. The United flight via Houston is a smidge more expensive, but the layover time is much shorter. I think I'll pay the extra $$$ and take the MSY-HOU-EZE flight and avoid the potential Miami headache.
Good luck on your trip next month!
I agree - Houston far outranks Miami. Enjoy your December trip!
