Buenos Aires for a month?

My husband and I are busy in the construction sector but will have a month to leave Canada in January to enjoy some rest, relaxation and sun. I have been researching where to go and decided that Argentina, primarily Buenos Aires would be a good place to spend a month. We would book via Airbnb and find a place probably in the Palermo Soho area and then do our daily excursions from there. We are in our mid fifties but very active (I run marathons and half marathons) and we love all kinds of things, museums, art, wine, good food and culture. In 2016 we went to Vietnam for 3 weeks and we loved it. It was a planned excursion with a travel guide (private tours and private guides) and the tour company who arranged our trip couldn't have done a better job....I guess my question is, do you think there is enough for us to see and do in Buenos Aires for a month and if we want to venture out to see the famous Iguza Falls as well as other things, is it easy enough to get around....any other suggestions on what you think might be a good place to go for a month that is warm would be welcomed. We are traveling from western Canada (BC) so anywhere in the world where it is warm is pretty far for us but because we are taking a month the length of the destination is not so much a concern. Any ideas, suggestions, feedback is welcomed...we also don't need to be doing something exciting every day...just enjoying the local culture is fine with us,

We rented an apartment in BA for a month at the end of a year long trip a few years ago and loved it! Is there enough to keep you occupied for a month there? Probably not. After a years travelling we just wanted a "normal" life for while. We rented an apartment that time.

We returned last year for a week with some friends and enjoyed that too. For that week we used https://www.oasiscollections.com/buenos-aires and they were fantastic. Great apartment in Palermo Soho.

We have also traveled extensively around the country and would highly recommend te NW region around Salta for a road trip.

Iguazu is amazing but can be done over a couple of nights from BA. Patagonia would also be great at that time of year.

Getting anywhere in Argentina is easy it just takes time. Overnight Exec buses are great, airlines can be a little hit and miss.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will check out Oasis Collections. I am trying to find a place where the weather is good, we can relax if we want, be adventurous when we feel like it, but almost trying to have a home base so we don't have to pack our bags every 2nd or 3rd day. My husband was thinking beach, I think that is fine for a few days but being at a beach location can get long and boring. Any suggestions where a nice beach area might be near BA that we could venture to for a couple days. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, thanks

Crellston gives good suggestions; I agree that the NOA for 4-6 days, and/or Iguazzu (in the NorthEast) for two nights would be a wonderful addition to the valued time spent in BsAs.

If you really want beach time, then a ferry (BueQueBus) or short flight to Uruguay (driving up the coast from Montevideo) would be nice. Beaches in Argentina are not great - though Mar del Plata does draw huge, local crowds. There are pools in some hotels in BsAs...

Definitely make time for Iguazu - preferably both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides. And Uruguay is also a good excursion. Unlike a lot of people I was not wowed by Buenos Aires and a few days were plenty, but I just loved Patagonia.

I'm one of the other people that like thursdaysd who did not care for BA. It's actually my least favorite major city in South America (although I have not been to Brazil). I should have just spent one day and gone to Iguazu before I flew home.

Also one of the more expensive SA cities to fly to, at least from the west coast.

ahhh...We were living in Portland Oregon and one rainy day my husband said ... How would you like to go to Buenos Aires ?
I said .. well, yeah, as long as it is not raining ..... and so we went.

For about 2 weeks ... We didn't see enough, and we never left the city ..
We stayed in a charming small hotel in Recoleta, we got up early and walked all day .. you can walk from one barrio to the next , if you look at a map you can see what I mean ..

"Palermo" is the name of several barrios .. Palermo Botanico is next to Recoleta.. these two barrios have museums and parks and restaurants etc
From these barrios, you can walk , take a taxi or bus to the farther away areas like Palermo Soho ( go on a Sunday ... it is like Soho NY in a lot of ways) and you need a taxi to get to Puerto Madero ... which is beautiful but not at the top of the Must See list if your time is really limited.

Mondays a lot of stores/shops and even restaurants were closed around town .. keep that in mind .
Dec -Jan quite a lot of shops and restaurants closed ... for a week or a month, depending.
As for not caring for BA .... some people have a totally different pictture in mind when they go for the first time and it is a let down/disappointment.
Some people just don't like things about it .. I have had that feeling about other places ... But having been to Paris and my husband having lived in India among other places, we were mostly charmed and not disappointed.
The dog poop on the street was disappointing but even that didn't stop us

We went home from that trip with our heads spinning .. from the visit, the total instant love for the place and the people ... especially the people.

We moved there a few months later . We lived there for years .. I want to say 2007.. doesn't matter ... go with an open mind and don't compare the way They do things to the way We do things and you will be fine ~

Go to the Evita Museum in Palermo .. it is/was her home. From the moment you walk in the door, the music will get you : ) and the rooms and artifacts and then go downstairs into the back garden where you can have a lovely lunch or just a coffee and a bite ...
Sunday - go to Belgrano .. Chinatown .. have lunch and walk tree lined shady streets .. there is so much to the city .. years and years of living there would be nice .. oh wait ... years and years of living there Was nice

Like Scarlett, my DH and I really like BsAs...we are repeat visitors, and find new and interesting places to explore each year.

There are walking and bike tours, lots of parks (some with Tango dancers - some with good crafts fairs) and some good museums...the cafes and restaurants are everywhere and most are quite good.

Breaking up the CITY experience with 4-6 days in the Northwest would be adding the Andean culture, the world's best empanadas and incredibly beautiful scenery...and good folk music...to the mix.

In addition, there are nice day tours from BsAs:like the Tigre Delta; or an overnight in San Antonio de Areco (by bus) which is a cowboy/silver/chocolate making town, near estancias; Day or several day visits to Uruguay....and on and on.
