My spouse and I will spend a few nights in Buenos Aires in February. We want to take a day trip to a nearby estancia for an authentic gaucho experience (possibly including horseback riding). We must return to BA in the evening, so a location within 1-2 hours of the city would be ideal. Can anyone recommend an estancia? Thanks!

Agree with the venerable AV Rooster. Los Dos Hermanos puts the A in Authentic.
Shoot, they would probably let you doc, vaccinate and castrate calves if you wanted a very, very,very authentic experience.
Seriously, Los Dos Hermanos is totally unlike other estancias I have visited. The others make for a fun day in the country...very entertaining and lots of vino tinto but not an authentic Gaucho experience.

Looking to stay at a nice estancia for a few days near Buenos Aires. Any other recommendations? We are not that into horseback riding but would love to be out in the country relaxing and eating great food. Also have 2 small children. Thanks in advance!
SuY - for relaxing and great food, try Villa Marie. We stayed there earlier this month and loved it. It's an old English manor house and very relaxing and peaceful. Horses are available, but are not the main experience. It's pricey, but all inclusive.

I am looking for the same type pf experience, some relaxing, good food, a pool...I have 2 young children so I want it to be kid friendly & entertaining for them as well. We are looking for 1 night or 2 in late Nov.
