Hello everyone. I had posted a while back asking for an opinion for our honeymoon in Argentina but we still haven't actually booked anything but our main flight.

I was hoping for some more recommendations if possible or your opinions.

We will be landing in Buenos Aires on 12/28 and our return flight back to New Jersey is Jan 08. We were hoping to spend a few days in Buenos Aires, perhaps make it to Mendoza(or other wine area?) and see some glaciers and wildlife if possible.

Any thoughts on what a good itinerary would like like? We've been looking at flights to Ushuaii or El Calafate and they are pretty expensive so I wasn't sure if there were other options or less expensive ways to get there.

Lastly, can anyone recommend a good tour guide that may be able to put all this together for us?

Honeymoon thats a tough one.. i lived in Argentina (buenos aires) for a while and travelled the entire country. I think you should consider bariloche... the switzerland of Argentina.

you def should hit iguazu falls
Salta if you like american southwest type stuff
Puerto madryn is an animal lovers paradise
I would choose Calafate over Ushuaia that glacier is amazing

With that time you only have time for one of these

If not Bariloche, I second the suggestion to go to Iguazu Falls .. stay at the Sheraton with a room with a view of the Falls. 2 days is all you need.

Uhm... tricky!
It mostly depends on your tastes... and your wife's!!
Mendoza is a great wine tasting place. Lovely scenery and good for animal sighting. Not so much for the glaciers department, althought there tallest mountain in the Americas is there. Great place for trekking, horseback riding, and enjoying the landscape.

Salta, in the north of the country is certainly gorgeous. Go there if you are into pre-colonial cultures and aboriginal stuff. BUT be aware, it's going to be REALLY hot in those dates. Like hell-ish hot and quite dry as well.

Puerto Madryn should be lovely in late december! You might even make it to see some of the great whales that come to the peninsula to deliver!! There's LOADS of wildlife to see in Puerto Madryn and surroundings...

But, personally, if I had to choose, I'd go with Iguazu. The waterfalls there are breathtaking. A serious sight, surrounded by thick, subtropical forest. Not only that, but there are the "Saltos del Mocona" nearby and Minas de Wanda and Jesuitic ruins to sightsee. It's also quite easy to make a quick jump into Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) for some cheap shopping. All in all, Iguazu is a very 'sexy' place, in my opinion, more than suitable for a couple of newlyweds. Plus, most hotels there have their own private pool and are quite lavish(also one of the things that pop into my mind when I hear "honeymoon").

As for travel agencies you can contact for the flights and so on, Asatej is one of the big ones and also has very reasonable pricing.

PS: avoid the public "yellow roof" taxis outside airports. They have the nasty habit of taking advantage of tourists... or locals, if they can get away with it! Private cars (known as remises) with stands within the airport are safer options.

I agree with CeliesWhims; Iguazzu Falls is romantic and incredible. Quite an experience. And all of the side trips described from there would also be great.

I would spend a few days in Buenos Aires (hotel in Recoleta) and then fly Lan to Iguazzu for several days (if you take CeliesWhims's good ideas) and then return to Buenos Aires for a few days (hotel in Palermo). If you wanted to, you could add an interesting day-trip from Buenos Aires to the Tigre Delta by train or to Colonia del Sacramento by Ferry.

This way you are not spending too much time in internal travel, but still getting around to see a different part of Argentina.

For me a falls view room at the Sheraton Iguazu for sure

VERY romantic memories for a lifetime...

Squeeze in some El Calafate Perito Moreno if time

but probably not unless you can make more...

Good advice !
The best way to avoid problems upon arrival is to get a Remiss inside the airport.
VIP, World Car, Manuel Tiendo Leon or Taxi Ezeiza .. by all means, do not take one of the taxis at the curb.

We know that we will be in BA on New Years Eve so we are trying to get some restaurant ideas for that night. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant for dinner?

There are lists and lists of restaurants in Buenos Aires but you have to find one that is open on New Years Eve and that is affordable.
If you are not planning to get all dressed up and pay a Lot for a meal .. with music/dance/whatever... you might look into the hotel restaurants, they are always open and where you might want to go on New Years Day also, since everything is closed.

There are many nice restaurants here.
Depends on what is open.
Look at Vic's list and pick out the places that sound good and find out if they are open.
