Hi, we are going to Brazil for our honeymoon at the end of September/beginning of October and I'm wondering when I'm reading that it's the end of the low season what that means as far as some of the beaches/islands that are a day trip from Rio. Are they going to be completely deserted, restaurants closed, etc, or just not crowded at that point? I know sometimes smaller towns can completely shut down and I want to make sure that's not the case before planning these side trips.
I'm not super concerned about the weather because coming from the Northern US the average temperatures definitely look beach-worthy to me. However, it looks like that time of year can be a little cloudy, is it generally more of a morning clouds/afternoon sun pattern or would we be looking at two straight weeks of cloudy days?

I assume you might mean Paraty and Ilha Grande or Buzios, none of which are a day trip from Rio, but an overnight. It will be quiet there, not totally closed down, and a bit livelier on the weekends. This goes for closer beaches, too, maybe such as those in Niteroi (which are a day trip), or Prainha and Barra de Tijuca area as well.
Head for the Salvador area for good beach weather if you have doubts.
