Brazil - Rio to Sao Paulo

We will be in Brazil in June for one or two World Cup games. Has anyone driven from Rio to Sao Paulo? What was your experience? Guide books don't recommend it but I hate to miss all of the scenery in between. Suggestions are appreciated. We are also planning on visiting the pantanal since we have tickets to one game in Cuiaba. I know its a big country and advice is appreciated.

If you don't want to miss the scenery, why not take a bus? Standard method of long distance transport in SA, and can be very comfortable.

Hey Dave..

Get a bus, around 40 u$ per person, 500 km (6 hours), cheaper than rent a car, by the way, the route is nice, don´t worry, travel this route every month...

Pantanal is a very nice place too.

I do not find that route scenic, but I'm pretty sure bus will be the best option so far in World Cup, because of the very high air fares. I suggest booking in advance:

I agree, The main route between Rio and São Paulo is not scenic, take a bus and use your free days in other places..
