Bouza Winery in Uruguay...Anyone Been There?
Wow, I can hardly believe it. A winery that both DH and myself can relate to. I love wine, he loves classic cars. The website looks good. Just outside of Montevideo. Has anyone been there? Any comments about the restaurant? I did the conversion to USD and according to their website, a meal is between $40.00 and $100.00 USD per person. Did I not get that correct? It might be a bit above our food budget. PLEASE any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Hi Ocean Seeker,
My Dad and I visited Bodega Bouza Winery back in February of this year when our cruise ship called on Montevideo. I booked a private city tour/winery visit with Marta Marquez
( [email protected] ). Marta quoted us a very, very reasonable fee which included her excellent guide service, a very comfortable, air-conditioned van with driver ( Mario Rivero ),
and a visit to the winery with a wine tasting ( wine, delicious bread and appetizers included in Marta's fee ). We didn't do lunch there. Instead we had some tasty beef at a restaurant in the Carrasco neighborhood of Montevideo.
The grounds and buildings of the winery were beautiful. Our wine tasting included a tour in English. We were welcome to check out the impressive car collection at our leisure. The people there were very friendly. I'm not a drinker, but I did take sips of the four wines offered. My Dad enjoyed them, though he's not a wine expert, either. We were more interested in taking the tour and seeing the cars. We weren't disappointed.
I've put some photos of our day in Montevideo on Picasa/Google Web Albums. There are a few dozen shots from the winery, including some of the cars. If you'd like to see them, here's the link:

I don't know how you're planning to get to the winery, or if you care to see some of the city while you're there, but I can highly
recommend Marta as a guide. She is very knowledgable, pleasant, speaks very good English with a great accent, and she has an infectious giggle to boot! I wish I could offer you a more informed opinion of the wine, but I have absolutely no knowledge of the subject. I thought you might like to see the photos, though.

Thanks so much Bill! I am really interested. I do already have a tour guide set for one of the two full days we have in Montevideo for a full day around the city. My husband is really into classic cars. He recently built a 1928 Ford street rod from scratch over two years. Can I ask how much the full tour with Marta was so I have a point of reference? I look forward to checking out your photos!! Thanks again! -Seeks

Hi Seeks,
I really admire people like your husband you build or fix up those vintage cars for the rest of us to appreciate!
Please, feel free to e-mail me regarding Marta's tour fee. Just
