Best Beach: Salinas or General Villamil

Which is the best beach from Guayaquil? We're looking for something laid back, not a party atmosphere. Which is the easiest to get to? I'm not finding much out there on General Villamil and can't even tell how long it takes to get there from Guayquil. Hotel suggestions at either beach would be appreciated.
