Best Airport Pick-Up Service in BsAs

I just have to add a comment on Fred and Carina at Silverstarcar.com. We hired them after reading an endorsement of them in Lonely Planet. They are friendly, knowledgable and total pros, but so much more. We ran into myriad issues in BsAs. When we arrived at our apartment rental, it was not clean, in fact a mess. There was a question if we could move in that day. Carina stayed with us, took us around to check out hotels, and generally assumed complete responsibility for our well being. When we finally got settled in, she even brought us a voltage adapter for use during our stay. When Carina took us back to the airport for a flight to Iguazu, the flight was cancelled at the last minute. Again, she stayed with us and drove us back into town and around til we found an acceptable hotel room. On our departure day, our flight back from Salta was late and we were in danger of missing our connecting fllght back home. Fred picked us up at AEP airport, literally sprinted to the parking lot with our bags and weaved his way thru rush hour traffic, to deposit us at EZE just in time. If you need drivers for any purpose in BsAs, I truly cannot recommend Silverstarcar enough.

touted a lot on tripadvertizer as "the best"

noted for its "experts?" with hidden commercial motives.

I have no 'commercial motives' whatsoever for this or any other concern. And no personal gain, either.

I totally agree that Fred at Silverstarcar is an ex-pat who has found a niche in Buenos Aires (along with Carina) that provides a wonderful, dependable and sometimes 'above and beyond' service - especially to those arriving for their first visit.

CYA, so glad you were able enjoy your visit, albeit with those unexpected glitches. Could you let us know from whom you were renting ?

I do not have commercial motives either. Qwovadis continues to make inflammatory, baseless accusations in his/her usual "hit and run" cryptic style. Oh, and his advice is usually off the mark.

I have never used Fred's services but lots of people swear by him. As Marnie says, he has clearly found a niche that appeals to some.

We used SilverStarCar for our recent trip to BA (we *just* got back). Karina/Carina (?) picked us up and Fred dropped us off. We chose them because we felt it would be easier after a long, exhausting flight with our young son to have someone waiting for us at arrivals, and because they were the only service that could offer a car seat for our son. Since the drive from EZE into the city can be lengthy, I felt so much more secure having Will in a proper carseat instead of sitting on my lap.

In retrospect, if it had been just DH and I, I don't think we would have "needed" them, and we probably wouldn't have chosen them because their price is rather outrageous and has just increased by a large amount b/c of the high season. However, we did "need" the carseat for our peace of mind, and they were excellent drivers and friendly people who took very good care of us. They do fill a niche that appeals to some people for good reasons.
