Just read and heard the airport will not open until March. Does anyone have information on Puerto Montt airport. When I was in Chile in November, several flight which were supposed to stop in Puerto Montt could not. Does anyone have any current news?

I am certainly interested in hearing about Puerto Montt. I have a flight from there in January.
You have this tagged Chile so I will answer for Puerto Montt. The airport has been bypassed on flights to Punta Arenas due to ash problems over the last few months but usually not for more than a question of hours or one day. It all depends on the direction of the wind. Usually it blows to the east into Argentina. Given that it is up to the volcano, there is no way to tell whether it will happen again at any given time. The alternative is an overnight bus to/from Puerto Montt. The city itself does not get an ash problem, but it does affect the altitude airplanes fly at.
