Anyone familiar with Lola House in Buenos Aires?
I'm finding rave reviews on TA for Lola House, Castro Barros 1073 | Barrio de Boedo, Buenos Aires 1217, Argentina. We're in the planning stages of a trip, but since this is a very small property, only 11 rooms, will probably need to act soon. So, if you know the property personally, I'd love to have some input.
Thanks!

Boedo is not in the heart of the city where most tourists stay .. just in case you are not sure of areas or where you might want to be.
It is a nice little blue collar area, from what I hear .. but a bit of a trip from Recoleta, Palermo etc.
I am not sure where you want to be while here.. I think you should get a map though.

Thanks,Scarlett.
I have a map and have looked at the location, it's supposed to be 10-15 minutes drive from the city center and on the subway line.
We usually don't stay where most tourists stay. We tend toward small boutique hotels or B&B's rather than large hotels. We sleep at the hotel, enjoy breakfast there and then are usually out for the day taking in the sights and enjoying our immersion in a new locale.
We're both comfortable with taking subways and walking and have enough Spanish to be fine staying in a local neighborhood. If the neighborhood is bad, of course we don't want to be there. But we have been quite comfortable in New York, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and other large cities staying outside the tourist areas.
If you know of a place that you think we'd love, please post it.
Thanks again,
Saige

Scarlett,
Thanks again for posting. We were looking at Hotel Lola based on it being the #1 pick on Trip Advisor for B's A's.
The reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I know that the area is not trendy or close in. That is why I was asking if anyone on this forum had personal knowledge of this small hotel or the area. I've used Trip Advisor in the past but truly trust my Fodors friends much more!
I appreciate your response and am looking forward to planning a great trip. Renting an apartment is a real possibility as we have done this many times in other countries with great success.
Thanks again,
Saige

Hi, Saige!
Thank you for your "but truly trust my Fodors friends much more!"
I have no personal experience with Lola House, as I am a local, but read quite a few of the reviews they have on TA.
It seems to have two downsides: location and noise.
If I were you, I would consider renting an apartment, unless you plan to stay in BA for only very few days.
Palermo or the less-known area of Las Cañitas may be good choices.
Anyway, I'm confident you'll have a great time in our country.

avrooster,
Thanks for your response! We're planning a full week at a minimum and will probably add a few days to the trip to see Iguazu Falls and the wine country. I'll be looking at apartment options in Palermos or Las Canitas.

Saige, I think Palermo and Las Canitas are indeed great neighborhoods for you to look in. I had them delete my long winded discussion with myself about Boedo.
I think you are definitely doing a good thing by looking closer in.

The problem with reviews online anywhere, especially on TA, is that employees/ family members and owners write them most often.

Thanks, Scarlett. I was worried about your post being deleted since there was nothing wrong with it! You were being helpful and I appreciate your efforts on our behalf.
