anybody here from Ecuador or very familiarn with it?

My niece from New Mexico in the United State has arrived in Ecuador to help with organic farming. She is 29 and has dedicated her life to this work. How she supports herself, I have no idea. Probably a generation gap. Somehow she's found her way to a place in Ecuador called las pinas, which I understand is on the Pacific coast.

I am concerned about her. What is las pinas like? Are there organic farms? She said friends led her there. She facebooked her mother that there was no internet access in that town and she would not be able to communicate with her for several weeks.

I am old and worried. Information would be greatly appreciated.
