Any experience with Argentina For Less Travel?

Planning a 3 week tour of Argentina with another couple in March/April 2012. As we want to see Buenos Aires and Patagonia, I'm aware that I don't understand anything about the efficient ways to get from one geographic area to another, or what would make a 3 week itinerary work well---so I've contacted Argentina For Less Travel company ( in Texas) for assistance. I'm wondering if any Fodorites have any experience with this group---can they be trusted? Should I feel confidence in their guides? Or should I be trying to plan this all on my own? Any comments will be very helpful.

We are planning a trip to Argentina. I wondered how you enjoyed your trip and your experience with Argentina For Less.
Thanks a lot.

Our family of four just returned from Argentina and had one one of the best trips we're ever had! We went to Buenos Aires for a few days, then down to Ushuaia in Patagonia for a few more days. Silvana Zavala at Latin America For Less handled all our in country arrangements, including airport transfers, tours, in country flights (Aerolinas to/from Ushuaia was great) and hotels. Everything went off without a hitch. We really, really, really had a great time. We plan to return to BA to attend an opera in the Colon Theater (what an awesome opera house that was!), and we are also hoping to return to Ushuaia to go on an exploration ship to Antarctica! Needless to say, we hope this company and Silvana are available to help us again next time, which we hope is very soon.

Hey Cold, so nice to see you on this Forum...do you have any plans to visit Argentina ? Missed you on the lounge last year - so glad you are back.

Hi Marnie - our dream drip would be Argentina, Chile then fly across to NZ and Australia. The problem is still school for the kids (though not too much longer). When they are off the weather is cooler and days shorter down there. And we don't want to miss the nice days we have up here. Oh, and the long flights in economy.

But people have worse problems.

I am new on this forum,so I hope jumping in here is ok? You are so familiar with Argentina, could I ask a couple of questions? !st. What do you think about a day trip from BA to Colonia
del Sacramento by ferry? Is it worth using an organized tour or easy to do on our own? We will be there in Sept.. 2nd. After reading your posts we have decided to try to take the bus as much as possible and maybe going to Salta instead of Mendoza if we can get to the Falls from Salta ?
oh yea, I REALLY enjoyed your chats!

I am not sure to whom you are posing your questions, but I am (just ask my DH) always ready to jump in.

I think a Day Trip to Colonia del Sacramento, by Ferry (either Buequebus or Seacat)is a lovely compliment to a stay in Buenos Aires. It just depends on how much time you have.

My DH and I, & many friends of ours, really loved spending
5-7 days in the Northwest of Argentina, using Salta as a jumping off point. (you see, I jump in, I jump off.....)

YES, you can fly from Iguazu to Salta, but only on specific days of the week. Check with Aerolineas, but there may still be a smaller airline (Andes)on that route too, not sure.

The Falls and the NOA are spectacular !!! I may be biased, as I spend a lot of time in the French wine country, so Mendoza (while I know it has more to offer than just vineyards etc) has never been a priority side-trip for us from Buenos Aires.

Keep us posted on your planning....lots of others here are good at jumping in.
