Aerolinas Argentina's air pass
Has anyone used the air pass with Aerolinas Argentina? I read about it on the website and it seems like a good deal since we are thinking of going to several places in southern Patagonia. What have been your experiences with the pass? How does it work? Do you get reserved flights? I see that it is based on miles flown--how do you know in advance which catagory you fall into?
Thanks for any insight you can give me.

I believe you must fly to BA on AA to be elligible to buy the pass and go to multiple countries. Call their number to be sure. They have a US based line that I have called to check on multi city tickets and they were very helpful. As for the # of miles flown - do a web search for air miles calculator...there are a few options.

Thanks for the heads up on having to fly AA to be eligible. I inferred that from their website, not really clear, so good to find out now. Someone on this board suggested to use the pass so I was just investigating. We will be using FF miles and AA isn't a partner, so it won't work out for us. Thanks for the terminology for what to search for to find miles flown--couldn't remember the terms!

Sally--The One World Alliance partners, including LAN and American, offer a similar program that includes flights anywhere within South America. If your ff miles are with American, you eligible. Tickets must be purchased prior to arrival in South America.

Hmm, our FF miles are with Alaska, but they are partners with LAN and American and in the one world alliance. Thanks sooo much, drdawggy, for this information. I will look into it.

I have a similar question, except we have bought FF tickets through united. We are looking for an air pass, as we will be flying throughout south america for 5 months. Beginning in Argentina for month, then to brazil for a month, then to chile (3 weeks), Peru (3 weeks), and ecuador(3 weeks). Finally we are planning on ending the trip in central america, a week each in costa rica, Guatemala, and Belize. I have been researching air passes, since we will be going so many places it will be the best way to get around. I was originally looking at the TAM but it seems their air pass is only good for 90 days. Can anyone help with options? We have already purchased our international flights. And it seems Neither LAn nor OneWorld are affiliated with United. does this mean we cannot ppuse their air pass? Other options? Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks you!

We booked our airpass last week in internet. After confirmation we called the hotline in Germany (we are living in Austria) and paid the amount with our credit card.Had good service from them and they were very friendly.
Got all confirmation via mail and we will fly with an etix.
We will start our journey next week with Lufthansa to BA and we hope that everything will work.I will give then an update....
