What time of year?

There are inexpensive 7-day cruises between Buenos Aires and Rio in the right season, usually into early April I think. Try Norwegain Sun. Then you would need to fly to Peru. If you were thinking of Machu Picchu you usually need to go to Lima and then fly into Cusco. The time and expense will add up for a family. I think I might either do Peru or Arg/Brazil if you ever plan to return. One thing to bear in mind is the altitude issues for visiting the Andes.

It would take more than two weeks to cruise from Peru round Cape Horn. (usually those Cape Horn cruises are more adults but there were a few kids on the one I took a year ago. (leaves from Santiago).

Too much for 2 weeks.
You could do Rio, Iguacu falls (2 nights) and Buenos Aires comfortably in that time.

Thanks!

The trip is planned for end of July 2017.
Machine Picchu is a must part of the trip.

So you need a few days to acclimate to the altitude. And then a day or two at MP.
So you could at most add one more place comfortably. Or see more of Peru.

There's a flight from Lima to Rio.

I'd spend it all in Peru. A week or ten days around Cuzco (including two days for Machu Picchu) and the rest in Lima; if you opt for a week, then you could go down to Nazca, Ica, or another place south of Lima
