I really don't have much to whine about except the fact that is raining.
Now, to the good stuff. Wine!
The following is a list of wines that we have tired from the supermarkets since arriving. They are listed in order of preference. Yes, I realize that it is bottle a day! I hope that my liver can withstand it.
Argento Reserva Malbec 2009 Medoza $75AR/17.50US
Soft tannins, lush full body, rich mouth feel, & a long lingering taste.
We have bought a second bottle of this wine for future consumption at $65AR/$12.80US at another store.
Intimo Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Patagonia $47AR/$11US
Best buy for quality of the wine.
Reminded us of the flavours of the central coast wines of Ca.
We will being purchasing more of this wine.
Bodega Lurton Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Mendoza $49AR/11.40US
A sturdy wine with good body & long lingering taste.
Ventus Sauvignon Blanc /Chardonnay 2011 Patagonia $23AR/$5.35
A decent white table wine for the price. It was recommended to us by our Porteña friend, Laura.
Gran Rodas Sauvignon 2011 Mendoza $17AR/$6US
A very bland wine. Thin & watery. Will not buy, again.
At lunch at Bella Italia we had a Trumpeter Rutini Sauvignon Blanc.
$26AR/$6US per small glass. It had a lovely nose, great mouth feel & tropical flavours.
We are trying to find it in the stores. But, we haven't had any luck, so far. (Whine)

The wines sold in Argentina and the USA are the same. Obviously,
there is a greater selection of Argentine wines, here, than in the USA.
The last time we were in BA, we drank only Malbecs. I feel we did ourselves a disservice. The Cabaret Sauvignons & the Sauvignon Blancs are very good. We had a Sauvignon Blanc with a handmade soft smoked cheese. It was a lovely pairing. The wine took on the taste of Fume Blanc.

No, not all the same wines sold in Argentina are available in the U.S. In my last trip to Mendoza, I made sure to save suitcase room to bring back some nice Catena-Zapata and Norton wines not availbable here.
The wineries will pack bottles in a wine sleeve, which makes it through every flight I've been on unharmed.

No limit other than what fits in the bags (checked only) and subject to airline baggage and weight rules. You may have to pay a very small (about 10%) duty on the bottles in excess of the duty-free allowance.
