According to news reports here, Will Smith and son Jaden Smith will be in Costa Rica next week to shoot a movie called "After Earth." The location shots will be around La Fortuna and will include the waterfalls and the Venado Caverns. According to the Internet Movie Data Base, the premise of the film is "After a crash landing, a father and son explore an alien planet." I suppose a region with an active volcano and hot springs and caverns could pass for another planet. The film comes out sometime in 2013.

That's cool. When we were there everyone was talking about how that area has become so popular for filming t.v. shows including the Bachelor and Love in the Wild. A woman was telling us that she has a van, and they would pay up to $140 a day to rent it, so there's a lot of money to be made. Someone else was telling us about their constructing a fake bridge at the Hanging Bridges. It looked like a broken down old bridge, but was actually constructed of really high quality materials wrapped in rope to make it appear old. They did some filming around Lake Arenal and stayed at Nayara.

Will Smith , my favorite actor, I should visit CR at these dates. I have been many times in La Fortuna wonderful area.

Anyone have an update on where all they filmed, what buildings they used, where all they stayed????
According to the Internet Movie Data Base, the movie won't be released until June 2013. We have almost a year to go before we can see it.
