Which town for Day of the Dead?

Hi you informed Fodorites,

Hoping to get to Mexico for Day of the Dead this year.
Right now, thinking of being in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato.
Which of these cities would be best to experience Day of the Dead?
Will be flying into and out of Leon so that's another possibility.
Which city is the most special for Day of the Dead in Mexico, in general?
