Which Resort in Riveria Maya

Jump to last reply

After much thought and research looking around the Caribbean and Mexico I think we have decided to travel to the Mayan Riveria. My husband and I are in our late 30s traveling without kids for an anniversary trip for 1 week in March 2013.

For the most part we want to sit on the beach/by the pool and relax but would also like to see some ruins, snorkel and turtles and perferably (not a must) be able to leave the resort if we just want to walk around (shopping, downtown, nightlife). I would like to avoid a huge hotel (my husdans is ok either way). We would prefer a hotel without kids, but also not a must. It is a must to avoid any crazy spring break parties. I have looked around Playa Del Carmen and Akumel. I think Tulum is a litle too far, but I guess not out of the question.

I am looking for AI resort recommendations

Also, is it safe to drink fountain drinks and/or mixed drinks at these resorts?
