Which CanCun Hotel?

I'm going to CanCun with a 9 year old boy in April for 5 days. Which hotel would provide the most activities for him? I've never been to CanCun and need some hotel recommendations along with off-hotel activities & restaurant suggestions.

ALmost any of the all-inclusives would work. Lots of activites, lots of kids (especially if it's during a school vacation), a big variety of food and usually a kids program. I prefer the resort in PDC, great beaches, not as commercial as cancun and clsoer to other site-seeing. I've been to the Gala resort and Barcelo (this one is a bit further away form the main town of PDC) with my kids and we all had a great time. Iberostar in PDC also gets good reviews here.

You should keep in mind that April is spring break time, and there will be many college age people, depending on where you stay. As previous poster said, you may want to check out Playa del Carmen, about 45 minutes south of Cancun, may be a bit less crazy.

Thanks for the info. I am going during spring break.
I found a decent price for the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach but it sounds like I should try finding a hotel in PDC.

Grand Coral beach is a great hotel but close to the Cancun hotspots. I would suggest either the Marriot Casa Magna or Crown Paradise (all inclusive)closer to the airport and nearer the southern end of the zona hotelera. Both have good web sites to check out and the latter caters to kids.
