where's a good place to go in august?
My fiance and I are trying to find a honeymoon destination in early august.
We're just a little uncertain about the weather that time of year in belize, mexico, etc.
we want somewhere upscale, romantic, without a lot of kids, partying, etc. We want a nice mix of relaxation and adventure. Any suggestions?

Hi try the Aventura Palace it is adults only located near Playa del Carmen Mexico. You can also take a ferry over to Cozumel. When you stay at the Aventura you are able to use all the other Palace resorts for free! They are located in Cancun which is 50 minutes from the Aventura. Check out this website for more info
www.get-me.to/cancun

You might check out www.worldwanderlust.com. They have some sample itineraries that are spcific for honeymoons and romantic getaways in Costa Rica. Also the company can design a custom itinerary to your exact specifications and they'll put together a suggestive itinerary for free. It's worth a look.

Caitlin, realize the previous 2 posters make their living from tourists to Cancun, Mexico and Costa Rica. I don't.

I strongly suggest you do some research (HOMEWORK) on the weather in Mexico, Belize, and Costa Rica in August.
In general, it's going to be hot and humid. In general, this applies to other Central American countries. High humidity makes the ambient air feel even hotter. If you like that kind of weather, fine. If not, I suggest you start doing your HOMEWORK by using my favorite Search Engine:

www.google.com

You'll have to do each location on a separate search. Example of search words:

cancun august weather

A number of websites will be listed. You need to take the time to read from them. Start writing things down so you build a data base of info.
The following high and low temps for August, 2000 are historical actual temps and taken from a weather website. However, historical humidity readings are not available, but general info should be gathered and taken into consideration. The first temp was the high, the second listed was the low actual temp.

CANCUN: August 2000
8/05: 95 and 72
8/10: 79 and 72
8/15: 93 and 79
8/20: 82 and 73
8/25: 93 and 81
8/30: 88 and 72

BELIZE CITY: August 2000
8/05: 90 and 79
8/10: 86 and 79
8/15: 88 and 79
8/20: 81 and 79
8/25: 86 and 82
8/30: 90 and 84
