Where to stay on the Pacific Coast

I'm going to be traveling to Costa Rica during Spring Break 2003. We will be staying in the Arenal area for the first part of the trip and then heading to the Pacific Coast. I'm currently booked at the Flamingo Marina Resort. Could anyone please advise on if this is a nice place to stay or if anyone has any suggestions? I prefer a place on the beach. Thank you.

Flamingo beach is very nice although I am not familiar with the Flamingo Marina Resort so I can't tell you if it is right on the beach.
We prefer to stay in Tamarindo (about 1/2 hour from Flamingo). The town has a nice atmosphere, the beach and the sunsets are great. Our favorite place to stay there is Hotel Capitan Suizo - located right on the beach.

Another great option for a Pacific coast location is Manuel Antonio.

Iza,

I wanted to stay at Captain Suizo, but they're already all booked up. There aren't many places to choose from that are just as nice on the coast. We definetly want to stay on the beach. Thank you for your response.

Did you check Sueno del Mar and Casa Cook also in Tamarindo?

I have heard very good things about Sueno del Mar. As to Casa Cook, it is located right next door to Capitan Suizo.

Have you checked out Hotel Sugar Beach. It is just 10 minutes north of Flamingo and right on the beach. They ahve a great restaruant/bar, lots of things to do and you are located on your own private cove.
Check out their website sugar-beach.com

HI,
Just wanted you to know, Casa Cook and
the del mar b & b are nice, but a really
long walk to Tramarindo. If I were you
I would go to Manuel Antonio. We were
in Tamarindo for 7 days and stayed at
Cala Luna, reminds me of any resort in
Scottsdale, Az.
