We have a cousin getting married (in June) in playa del carmen and would like to add a few days vacation onto the few days that we will attend the wedding. The wedding will be at the Reef Club (I think). I will be travelling with my 2 year old and husband. I am not thrilled about investing our rare vacations in too commercialized part of mexico but we want to be there for the wedding. So we'd love to add an adventure before, but I also have to be realistic about what we can accomplish with child (and I will be 6 months pregnant). (We did do 2 weeks traveling Italy with her at 15 mo. last year so we aren't totally opposed to some "juggling".)
Is a whole week in Playa del Carmen the way to go? Better than 3 days in Isla Mujeres and then 3 days in Playa del Carmen?
Thoughts about IM or Tulum or Akumal with small child?
Other ideas about where to go before we arrive for wedding?
Thanks! MKM

It is very hot in June, you might not want to do Tulum with a small child. It's not very "toddler-friendly." Isla Mujeres would be a nice place to start. Very easy, with golf carts all over the place for transport and a very nice state park, garrafon, that is very child-friendly.
Akumal is kind of quiet also, with decent beaches and snorkeling. Hope this helps.
Hi,
You might try Akumal. I will be traveling with my daughter and we plan to stop in Akumal becuse it sounds very child freindly. The kid's club looks great. I found good info at locogingo.com
