Where to go after the Jungle?

Hi! We have a 14 day trip planned to Belize in mid-June. We will probably stay for 6 nights or so in the jungle at DuPlooy's. We are also looking at Ambergris for a few days but wanted to see if thee are better places to go. We would be grateful for any suggestions you may have. Thanks.

What are your interests? Outdoor adventure, hiking, rappelling, waterfalls, interesting cultures, fancy beaches, indigenous handicrafts, wildlife, ruins, snorkeling, scuba diving? Let us know and we can advise you better.

In the meantime, here's a link to our photos online. We loved everything we did and everywhere we stayed in Belize. Check out the Belize set and the itinerary that's linked there and let me know if you have questions. Happy trails!

Orange Walk is great for Lamanai. Toledo district is also very interesting, much less developed. Placencia or Hopkins for other beach areas or one of the small islands on the reef

Thanks! I really enjoyed the pictures. We will have just come from 6 nights in the jungle and would like to spend 4 - 5 days at a good beach (for snorkeling, sailing, relaxing, maybe Placencia or Ambergris or both) and 4 days or so somewhere else. We will probably have seen enough ruins already but would like things like hiking, being exposed to the cultures of Belize in a more natural setting, waterfalls, natural beauty and wildlife.

Our interests are pretty broad - we want to see the natural beauty of Belize and get to know the culture of Belize.

Overall, I think after the time in the jungle, a few days around the water would be great, and then the remaining days can either be somewhere else around the water or somewhere else with great natural beauty where we can spend our days exploring.

Thanks.

We enjoyed the Hopkins and Sittee River area. You could do easy day trips to the Mayflower site and Cockscomb for great hiking and Maya Centre Village for some nice (though not cheap) handcrafts. Also, check out www.cavesbranch.com if you like adventure. Happy trails!
