Best and best-value are two different things.
Many would say that Cayo Espanto, on a private island on the back side of Ambergris Caye, is the best resort, but it is outrageously expensive -- up to $12,000 a week for a villa with butler, meals and drinks.
For value, there are many small, fairly modest places on the beach such as Coconuts that are great buys. Condotels, including The Palms, Banyan Bay, Belizean Shores and Banana Beach, are excellent values, with lots of space for the money.
For a honeymoon, among the most-recommended places are Victoria House, Portofino and Mata Chica.

i see your point, 12k is a little much...i think we're looking for a little more value than that. thanks for the reply. by the way, are any of these places that you suggested the sort that make you feel isolated from the rest of the culture(a.k.a. just a bunch of honeymoons going on, it is important to us that we are able to mingle with some nontourists as well, after all i think the best part of travel is the seperation from the familiar.
