Weddingmoon in Costa Rica with 25-50 guests

I need Help! My fiance and I are hoping to get married and spend our honeymoon in Costa Rica. I've read so many reviews on this site and others that I'm totally confused by the choices. Can anyone recommend a hotel/resort with the following features for late October 2002:

--access to many acitvities (river rafting,kayaking, snorkeling, hiking etc)as well as a nice beach
--All Inclusive (preferable but not absolutely necessary)
--clean, bungalow-style accommodations
room for 25-50 guests
--on-site weddings possible
--relatively easy access to the hotel/resort from an international airport

I know I'm asking for something that probably doesn't exist, but if you have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Amy

Amy,

I have never beed to Costa Rica but from what you are explaining that you want sounds like you might be interested in the Xpu-Ha Palace in Mexico, this is located 50 minutes from the airport and this place is wonderful! It is located near a lot of the ruins, it is built in an eco park that is just stunning! All rooms are bungalow style buildings the restaurants and lobby are all open air, and the beach it is on is amazing! Plus it is all inclusive! We just returned and with our 8 day 7 night package all meals, drinks, taxes, tips, were included PLUS we got 2 free tours per person, and we also got a manicure, pedicure, and a massage each! All for only $1785.00 per couple!
The next best thing is we also got to use all of the other Palace Resorts, they have 8 but you can use all of them except the Spa Palace you have to stay there to enjoy that resort, but we did go eat at the Aventura which was nice this one was adults only, the Xpu-Ha also has a free shuttle that takes you into Cancun to shop, or visit and use the other Palace Resorts. They have many water sports activites I think you should consider this place for your wedding it is wonderful!

This is who we booked through
www.palaceresortsmexico.com

Here is another website with GREAT info on this resort

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Amy, it's fairly obvious you have done little reading about Costa Rica and have not done your homework.
There is basically ONE international airport and that is in Costa Rica's capital city of San Jose. There is a small one on the Caribbean coast but that would have less of what you want than the Pacific Coast and there are far fewer plans that go directly there, so it is also much more expensive.
The nearest beaches will be about a 3 hour drive from the airport. Perhaps you consider that "relatively easy access" - I don't, especially when you are having to transport 25-50 people.
Renting cars is very expensive in Costa Rica.
There are not that many 'all inclusives' in Costa Rica and rarely will you find any all inclusive in a bungalow style setting. I don't recall ever reading about one.
If not all inclusive, expect meals for one (1) person per day to cost about:
Breakfast = $5
Lunch = $10
Dinner = $15
So, each couple would be likely spending in the neighborhood of $60 per day for meals over and above the cost of their room.
All rooms get taxed at 16.39% and that might apply to meals as well; I don't remember.
In general airfare from the USA to San Jose, Costa Rica will range from $550 to $850 per person depending on where they're all coming from and the actual dates involved.
Late October is at the end of the Green Season (as the Costa Rican travel industry likes to call it); better known as the rainy season.

The perfect hotel resort is the Melia Conchal on 900 acres complete with golf course..There is an airport in Libera which is 30 minutes from the hotel, otherwise you'll be driving 4 hours from San Jose or have to take a plane. The grounds are gorgeous, there is an optional food plan, the rooms are junior suites and there are jitneys to take you everywhere. All the side trips are available from the agents in the main building.. For more info and pictures please write..

Amy -

I went to Costa Rica on my honeymoon in 1995 - I know the times change, but we went to Playa Tambor, and thouroughy enjoyed it. We stayed the first night in San Jose, then the resort sent a charter bus. The drive is long, but it is so beautiful, you don't mind. It's a nice way to see the countryside. The resort was all-inclusive. They did not have "bungalow" style accomodations, but the rooms were nice, and there's plently of room for a large group. It was moderately priced, and offered many recreational options.
