Uvita during green/rainy season - should we go??
Has anyone been to Uvita at the very end of July/ beginning of August? We were planning to go but have heard from a few people to avoid it during rainy season. Costa Rica is supposed to have a mini-dry season during those weeks but I'm not sure if it's in some places more than others. From what I understand all of Costa Rica will be a mix of sun and tropical showers so I'm not sure if Uvita will be any diffferent.
Can anyone comment from experience?
Thanks!

Hi Jes!
While it's important to remember that Costa Rica is a tropical country, and can therefore always experience a downpour, that certainly doesn't rule out travelling throughout the entirety of the 'rainy' season. Officially this lasts from May through December, but we would only advise clients to steer clear of October and November (perhaps early September also). In these months you can see some pretty persistent, heavy rainfall.
Back in July/August you should be OK, and you could well fall into the 'veranillo' ('little summer') on the Pacific coast and find it nice and dry. As you say though, probably best to expect a mixture of sunshine, cloud and showers. We take a good deal of clients at this time of year, especially families, and they've not experienced poor weather by and large - but again, always be prepared for the odd downpour!

Thanks Volcanogirl! I had a fantastic trip and we had some great weather mixed with some evening rain (which allowed for some beautiful lightning views). we were glad we went to Uvita and got all the way to the Osa Peninsula with a boat ride. I will definitely do a trip report as soon as I can! Thanks again for all of your advice!

@Volcanogirl, sorry for the late response!
In Uvita I stayed at Oxygen Jungle. At first we were in a jungle room and it would have been great, but it smelled musty. The second day we moved to an ocean view room and loved it. Getting to the hotel was quite a trek uphill on the crazy unpaved roads but once you got to the top it was heaven. We didn't get a chance to check out the other hotels in the area for a comparison because we were on the go, but we definitely enjoyed Oxygen. I'm working on the trip report and will share the link when I finish. Have been so busy!!
