I'm considering a four night stay at the Uakari lodge outside of Tefe in Brazil. It's an interesting project run as a Non- profit/research station with all money being put back into local community development.
Tefe is a one hour flight from Manaus.
Has anyone stayed here or heard about this lodge? There was an article in the NYT about it last year and it won one of the Conde Nast Eco Tourism awards.
Hoping someone can help,
Mant thanks.

Did you go WelltraveledBrit?
Yes, we went but it seems like a long time ago! I don't think I did a trip report on Brazil as it was a long trip and I felt overwhelmed but it when I got home. We really enjoyed the lodge, particularly because of their dedication to community development and the surrounding area. So many of the other places talked about the animals but not the local people. perhaps things have changes in the last 8 years. But at that time Uacari was the only place I could find that talked about the land in way that was inclusive of local communities. Anyway if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. It is very far out, you have to take a plane from Manaus to Tefe and then a boat for several hour.
