Tulum (camping)

We did not stay long in Tulum as there were too many tourists for us. It also seemed that the ruins would not be as great as they were in Chitzen Itza and will be in Guatemala. We can give advice on the campings though.

When you get to the beach area, which is quite a walk, there are three campings and a bunch of places with cabañas. An other option is to go a bit towards Punta Allen and in the beginning of the road are a lot of interesting hotels. We spent our nights on the beach campings and in the city.

Campings
Note: we were told by our camping that there is no internet or electricity on any of the campings.

- Camping Santa Fe (150MX$ per person, 130MX$ if you stay 3+ days) looked very beautiful. With white sand and very clean.

- Playa Roca (80MX$ per person. nice camping has all that you need.

- Playa Palmas (100MX$ per person) right next to Playa Roca, barely separated and is of similar quality.

Tulum town sleeping
- on our last night in Tulum we wanted internet and electricity so we stayed in "Hotel Hostel Tulum" at the main crossing of the city next to 7Eleven. We had private condo for 300MX$ but others managed to negotiate cheaper.

Our adventure
See our [Tulum blog post](http://www.aroundtheworldinlove.com/welcome-jungle/) for our experience in the area. We also went to Punta Allen and the Sian Ka'an biosfera

Don't know if your style of travel will get a lot of interest on this particular forum, but thanks for posting. Your blog has some fun photos. Sounds like you're having a great adventure all-in-all. Brings back afresh my own time in the Tulum area. Thanks again.

Hi!
How can you book in any of those? Because I googled it and nothing. Or is it an adventure to go there and find vacancy?
Thanks!

Alealanis--We access the beach at Playa das Palmas. We stumbled on it our first trip, looking for a place to park and swim, without renting expensive loungers at one of the more expensive beach clubs that line the other end of the beach road. There's a hand made little wooden sign on the roadside. At the beach side of the lot, there is a little straw shack that serves some food to beach goers and has some chairs for them to use. At the road end of the lot, there is some sand to park on and some palm trees for shade. In between, there is a tiny brick shack with rudimentary bathrooms and space for maybe a couple of tents, although I've only seen one at a time, and a kind of grill/fireplace for cooking. No phone. No electricity. No website. And betcha they don't spray for any mosquitos that may show up at night. The other two mentioned may be the same.
