Travelling methods from Costa Rica to Honduras???

I'm planning a trip to CR in the new year for 6 weeks and at some point I want to go to Honduras (Utilas) for a week. I am wondering the cheapest and safest way to get there from CR? Do I find a cheap flight.. and with what airline OR should I take a bus??? Considering I'm only planning a trip for 6 weeks... would I have time to take a bus? If you have any advice or suggestions I would be very thankful.
