travel time between el tamarindo and la casa que canta?
Hi - My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Mexico in October 06. I think we are going to spend 5 nights at El Tamarindo and 5 nights at La Casa Que Canta. We will be traveling in and out of the Manzanillo and Zihautanejo airports so we don't have to worry about long drives upon arrival or departure. I was just wondering how long the drive would be between the two resorts via car or bus...or is it wise to fly...or are there any other options?
I was also wondering if anyone has particular preferences for rooms in either resort...I have done all the research...I just want to know people's experiences, thoughts, and recommendations. Do any rooms have outdoor showers/bathrooms?
One last question...when do you think we should book our vacation...taking into consideration cost and availability? Thanks so much!

These places were 2 different trips for us. If you fly into Manzanillo, it is about 45 minute drive north to El Tamarindo, we rented a car for the week. QCQ is a 20 minute ride from the airport by hotel transporation & we only used taxis on that trip. The 2 locations are about 200 miles apart I think, not sure you want to drive that, Hwy 200 is a good road, we have driven it from PV to Manzanillo but not south of there. It is not a freeway though. The 80 miles from PV to El Careyes took us 3 hours. Depends on where you are coming from, but you could fly between ZLO & ZIH. We happen to like the beachfront villas at tamarindo or the Palm Tree, if you go to the Forest Villas, you lose the views & they seem a bit claustrophobic but that may just be me. The BF are far back from the beach so are mostly private but with good views & pool/beach/restaurant access. The bathroom has french doors that opened up onto a private side yard & the jacuzzi part of the plunge pool wound around to this side of the room. Your entire lounge area & dining area are completely outside. End of October is when we have gone & the weather was perfect! QCQ was a pool room but I can't remember which one, it's been awhile. Post another question just on that & I'll bet you'll be specific answers. Good luck!

oh my, that is hard, I cannot imagine being dissappointed either way...but Tamarindo leads in my book, mainly for the unique South Pacific feel & look & the extreme privacy. But at CQC you can dine many places so the food & ease of getting there is attractive. I like to look for the good in our travels & don't tend to pick things apart. These are 2 top resorts so it was easy enjoying them!

Thanks for the info. Yeah...I think I read something that said it was a 10 hour drive between the 2 airports (zlo and zih)...but was not sure if that was realistic...or if anyone had experience with this! I don't think I want to drive that long...but we now have our heart set on going to both places. I looked up flights between the 2 airports and there doesn't seem to be any nonstop flights...they all have stops in Mexico City and one way is not cheap...am I missing something? Does anyone know if there is any other way to go...cheap flight or train would be preferred, ferry/boat along the coast, super fast bus, teleporter...?! If anyone has any experience or recommendations please let me know. Thanks!

My favorite room at LCCQ is #21, Rosita Alvirez. It is a pool suite in the Luna wing. I prefer the Luna wing, as the rooms front the cliffs rather than the pool area , are much more private, and there is nothing better than going to sleep to waves crashing into the cliffs.Very private patio. Just a note, the room under this one, #20 Mariquita Linda, was not especially private.

Has anyone ever traveled between these two locations...el tamarindo (near manzanillo) and lcqc (zihuatanejo)? How long does it take? If we decide not to do this because of the distance...and we had to pick just one resort...which one should we choose? We want to go for 10 days and worry that it may be too long at just one of these resorts. Any suggestions on another small luxury resort that we could combine with one of these resorts? Considering Casa Las Brisas (punta mita)...any info on this place would be great...and/or any other suggestions. Thanks for your help.

We spent 10 days at Villa del Sol - down the beach from LCQC and it was spectacular. Spend the $ to get an American Express Platinum card, (I think it's $300 a year or so) and book your travel through their travel agent. You'll get a free upgrade if you don't travel during high season. We got a two or 3 upgrade to the Beach Suite - private (but tiny) infinity pool and terrace of our own. Contin. breakfast brought to the room before you awaken. Excellent restaurants, private beach, palapas and private dining on beach. Couldn't have had better service or food. I understand LCQC is wonderful but haven't stayed there. It's cheaper in the summer but HOT. Enjoy.
