Transport from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende
Can anyone suggest the best way to travel from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende?
Is flying to Leon the best alternative or can one arrange a private car? Bus?
Any comments on the options.
Thanks.

Last time I was in MC airport there was no direct bus the SMdA. You could take a taxi to MexicoNorte and take a first class or deluxe bus to SM, then taxi to your hotel.
A long term ex-pat American friend of mine advises that you haven't been to Mexico if you haven't travelled on a bus.

You don't specify if you'd be departing from MEX or not. If from the airport, Primera Plus goes to Queretaro. Then from there you'd need to either switch buses, Uber, taxi, or shuttle (probably private) with someone like Bajiogo as mentioned.
Or from Norte, if you're seeing CDMX, ETN and Primera Plus go to SMA. PP goes non-stop. ETN has a cool, roomier double decker bus, but stops in briefly in Tepotzotlan and Queretaro along the way, but no bus changes, and costs a little more. Figure on about 4 hours, +/- depending on traffic.
Interjet flies from MEX to BJX, about an hour. Fares can be as low as $80 US. Shuttle from BJX about $24 US, about an hour and a half. Not a lot of time savings adding in check-in.
