Tortuguero- DIY or pay the extra single fees?

So, after a lot of hemming and hawing I decided to go with a package deal to visit Tortuguero on my trip to Costa Rica in a month. I found one with no single supplement charge which is awesome, since I'm one person. I made ready to book and found that they won't run the tour without other people.

I'm sort of stumped what to do. I wanted to do the package not only because it seemed like it would be similar price (the one I'm doing is pretty budget) but also because it would guarantee my rides at a set price- I'm coming from Puerto Viejo and going to Arenal.

I'm a little nervous about figuring out how to get to the docks in Moin and then finding out no one will take me for less than $50-60 for the boat. And transport to Arenal is going to be similar, right? It's the beginning of May which is not peak tourist time from what I understand.

I will keep my fingers crossed someone else signs up for my date but what do y'all think the best course of action is?
