Tamarindo and Aernal, CR for one week in February

Hi all! My hubby and I are planning a trip to CR this winter. We want to surf in the Tamarindo area and then go to the Aernal area ziplining and waterfall rappelling. We have about 7 to 8 days and are trying to figure out how to best split the time between locations and flight options. We might be trying to squeeze in a lot in that time period, but we try to make the most out of the time we have.

We will be renting a car. I was thinking we spend 3 nights each at both areas. If we arrive too late in the day for tours in Arenal we can head for the hot springs. Desafio tours look good and Sky Adventures looks good for ziplining. We haven't decided on a hotel yet. Something nice, but it doesn't have to be 5 stars.

In Tamarindo, hubby may surf Witches Rock one day. I'll stay with the smaller waves on the beach. Not sure where we'll stay there either.

We are flying from Orlando. Flying United, we can fly into Liberia and drive to Tamarindo and then to Arenal. After our stay in Arenal, we can fly out of San Jose to Orlando. Jet Blue flies direct to San Jose, which is nice! We would then have to take Sansa Air into Tamarindo. I prefer the Jet Blue option, but not sure what a hassle it will be switch airlines in San Jose with a surfboard bag, etc.

I would appreciate any feedback on our itinerary so far! This is my first trip to Central America so any advice it greatly appreciated.
