Taking 15 yr old girls to Cozumel, etc
What can they do at night? Is there anywhere they can go out alone together at night? Or should they stay with their parents? They are pretty heavy party-ers already, so they will probably be looking for whatever action they can find. Scary, right?

www.travel.state.gov Mexico Cancun
Very scary
especially the Oasis and downtown clubs...
For me party in-resort only preferable with an older
more responsible buddy.

Cozumel is not really a party place like Cancun. It's more relaxed and laid back. Most people that go to Cozumel are divers and people looking to chill out, so partying to wee hours of the night is not a priorty. Since the drinking age is 18 most bars will be off limits to them anyway.
Try Carlos & Charlies, Senor Frogs and Margaritaville.
(now I know why grown adults hate those places)
And, no I would never, ever let a 15 girl out alone anywhere without proper supervision I don't care what country you're in. If your going to have children, at least be responsible for them and their actions. Is this a joke?

Gotta be more paranoid when you're traveling -- guys at the bars are drunker than usual because cheap drinks and lower legal age. Combine this with being on vacation and they are more likely to take risks (like raping you and your friend) that they might not usually try at home.

Are you their parents? I can't tell from how you worded the post, cabovacation. I think it's the parents call. Since they are 15 years old and already known as heavy partiers, yes I would be nervous to have them out on their own. I'm never worried so much about locals, more the other (drunken, male) tourists.

They are not my kids but because I've been in several places in MX this gal asked me. My kids are old. I wouldn't leave these girls alone for a second, but I haven't been to Cozumel.... thanks - this is enough. I'll warn her

Only if your looking for grandkids or having a couple of Lady's of the evening in the family.
Under NO circumstance would I let a 15 year old out at night. The drinking age may be 18 BUT that means nothing in Mexico. Also lots of drugs. If you love those kids you will not let them out of your sight & that's from 25 years experience of Mexican travel.

I took my 17 yr old daughter to Senor Frogs in Cancun. We had a great time dancing together, watching the crazy stuff they do onstage, but I was with her the whole night. I didn't even let her go to the bathroom alone. We left at midnight when it was starting to get a little more crazy. Cancun or Cozumel, I would not let my daughter go anywhere alone at night alone or w/friends her age in those beach resorts.
BTW, Senor Frogs would have glady served her alcohol if I had allowed them to- the waitress tried to get her to order a drink, and the lady w/the jello shots also offered her one. They did not check IDs at the door or table. They couldn't have cared less about her age.

I'm usually a carefree kind of traveler, but to this original question... no way. Not only 'normal' drinking (and they will likely have no problem getting served alcohol) but it is not unheard of to be 'slipped a mickey', drugged drinks. Women know not to leave you drink sitting around in a nightclub. It could be OK but it could turn out really bad.

There is NO WAY I would let these kids out alone. Not because Cozumel is dangerous -- because they are 15! What kind of parent would? Are they allowd to do this at home? This is exactly the kind of parenting that ends up on the nightly news once something goes horribly wrong. They do realize that they won't be the only tourist on the island, right? If these 15 year olds are "looking for action", what do you think the 18-21 year olds are doing? I sure wouldn't want my daughters to become prey for a bunch of drunken college guys who are on the loose with no parents even in the country. Don't your friends read the newspaper?
And by the way, the Cozumel authorities have been known to deport overly aggressive spring break partiers and their irresponsible parents to the main land. They could all be put on a ferry and sent off the island if caught doing the wrong thing. Be forwarned!
