I'm planning a trip with two kids to Costa Rica in February. I wondered about the safety record of these airlines, all of which I would be flying to get to Costa and then within the country to my final destination. I've already heard about delays on TACA and can live with that. I do have the option of flying TACA or LACSA to get to the country - any recommendations as to which is better? I'd need to take NatureAir to get to my final destination. Also, is San Salvador a safe place - we need to change planes there. Thanks.
TACA, LACSA and NatureAir to and within Costa Rica

TACA and LACSA are for all practical purposes the same airline. The flight might have a "LACSA" designation, but it's all TACA these days. San Salvador's airport is about 25 miles outside the capital. The city itself has quite a bit of crime, but you'll be nowhere near it changing flights at the airport.
I recently flew LACSA R/T LAX to CR with no problems. I've flown TACA from LAX to Honduras through Guatamala and back through San Salvador. Both airports are fine.
TACA has a rep for losing luggage so if you can swing carry-on, do it.
