Suggestions for remote lodging in the Peten?

Jump to last reply

I'm spending 9 days in Guatemala. After seeing Tikal, I was hoping to spend a couple of nights at a jungle lodge in the Peten. I'd like to find something that's a bit more remote than the offerings around in the immediate area around Tikal and Flores; maybe a boatride and a hike to get there, something like that. I''m interested in seeing birds and other wildlife, hiking, ruins, the usual. Does anyone have any suggestions for an interesting stay?
I was considering Chiminos Lodge but I hear there are some serious problems there as far as staffing and supplies so I'm hesitant to book it. Does anyone know about that?
