Six months in Panama?
Hello - My husband has an opportunity to work in Panama for six months (coming from NYC) and I am considering going there with him and my 14 & 17 year old sons. I am finding it very difficult to get much info on the web? Any suggestions on living in Panama - the International School is very expensive. What are living conditions like there, would you choose Panama City to live in or a little outside. Thanks Aine

I was born in Panama but have never been back, would love to sometime! Check out Pamamainfo.com, it's a good place to start. Don't know about you and your family but it sounds like a great opportunity for a family adventure! I understand Panama City is very civilized and cosmopolitan, an important banking and commerce center for the entire region. Good luck to you!

Hey There -

I did the exact same move from NYC to Panama City. Do it! My girlfriend and I went to Panama on vacation, fell in love with the coubntry, and moved back to work for a small eco/adventure travel outfitter. I'd be happy to help you in any way that I can. I've since relocated to Boulder, and you can email me at [email protected] with any specific questions. I can also give you my phone number and we can discuss.

Best of Luck,

brian

Message: Eons ago (back in the 60's) my family moved to Panama for a year. My sister and I (4th and 6th graders)cried and cried. Why would anyone want to live in Panama. One year later when it was time to go home, once again, my sister and I cried and cried. We had the most incredible year of our young lives and did not want to leave the friends we had made and the adventures that were always around every corner. By all means, go and take your children. It will be an experience of a lifetime!

Definitely go to Panama with the kids. I was taken there by my parents when I was 15. Greatest three years of my youth. I go back frequently because I love it so much. I would suggest you hook up with someone already there for a recon before settling on your living place. There are many excellent condos available in the old Zone. I envy you your opportunity! Be prepared to travel while you are there, you must see Boquete, El Valle, the beaches, and Boca Del Toros.
