Planning a late June trip for 3 nights/4 days, for a group of executives who have quite a wish list. Zip lining, deep sea fishing, white water rafting, ATV or off-road driving, etc. They also are interested in night life, gambling, etc., but from what I can tell, there isn't much night life except in San Jose.
My thoughts are to fly them in/out of Liberia with a stay at the Four Seasons Papagayo. Any recommendations on the companies that set the standard for the above activities? I'm also looking for any sort of culinary tours because these guys are all about food. Anything out of the normal would be of even greater interest. Bottom line, I'm looking for any recommendations for upscale, fun, maximization of time.

For the most part, CR isn't a foodie destination. The food tends to be pretty simple - grilled meat, plantains, rice and beans, etc. Our favorite area is the Arenal area - Sky Trek for ziplines, Rios Tropicales or Desafio for white water rafting, and you can ATV there as well. No beach, but there is a huge lake there with fishing. Nayara is an upscale place to stay, and they have excellent food. They might also like The Springs if they want really over the top. If the area interests you, you can check out Desafio and Sunset Tours for other tours; they both have good websites. If you have your heart set on a beach destination, Manuel Antonio is very popular and would offer a lot of what you're looking for. Hopefully someone can help you with Papagayo info.
Manuel Antonio offers much of what you want for them. Deep sea fishing is readily available at the port of Quepos, sort of the gateway to the park area. As Volcanogirl says, this is no place for anyone who is "all about food," if I understand what that means. However, there are some really good restaurants in MA. There is also a casino in Quepos. ATVs are available, along with ziplines. But, the way you describe these executives, they would probably be happier somewhere else.
