Secrets Resorts Riviera Maya & age
We are an older couple, 50s & 60s, considering the Secrets resorts. Based on price, thinking we'll go with the Square deal. We understand that means we'll most likely end up with Secrets Capri or Silversands, that Capri is an older resort and neither has the best beach. That's OK with us. We are interested in quiet, relaxation and seeing the sights. We are just fine with a younger crowd around. My question is, will we be unusually out of place and will there be too much of a party atmosphere? Thanks!

You will not be out of place at all. There are activities going on during the day if you wish to participate and if not..just sit quietly and enjoy. No need to worry about a "party" atmosphere.
You seem to have done your research and know that neither Capri or Silversands has the best beach, but as you said you are OK with that. All the Secrets resorts have great service and good food.
Enjoy!

Maroma my fav Capri pretty mixed reviews
a fair number of negatives...
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...Riviera_Cancun...
www.bookit.com usually has best AI package deals
For me the AIs are a bit like cruise ships always noise/party
going on get a room far away from the action or better
bid priceline for a great 5 star hotel for usually
lots less money on www.betterbidding.com and do as you like.
Happy Journey,

The Secrets Square deal IS a very good deal. That is what the OP was asking about.
I have been to many AI resorts and was never stuck in an atmosphere that was "like cruise ships always noise/party going on". There are sometimes games going on at the pool, but we are beach people. There are plenty of quiet spots at any resort. Secrets are adults only (not that adults can't get crazy) and are not really a "party" atmosphere.

There are 2 reasons we began considering going to Mexico at all. The first is that a new non-stop flight is being offered from our small local airport to Cancun starting this Feb. It wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't last, so it seemed a good time to go. We have never stayed at an AI, or even thought to, but the package price is right. Thanks all for the information. We have been happy with Priceline hotels in the past, but don't think that's the way we want to go this time. If anyone has a specific recommendation for a different, quiet adults only resort on a good beach, that would be appreciated.

If you want a very quiet adults only resort look into the Catalonia Royal Tulum. It is a much longer ride from the airport than the Secrets resorts and there is not much to do at night, but there is a beautiful beach.
If the Secrets Square deal is a good price then go for it. All the Secrets Resorts are nice.

I agree with schmerl - you can't go wrong with any of the Secrets resorts. The adults only AI resorts in Mexico are usually very upscale and not at all like a cruise ship party atmosphere. Secrets have decent restaurants and while the do have a variety of activities, you can choose to participate, or not. You will find a variety of age groups - often younger couples. But we've always found a good mix of guests. I haven't stayed at Capri, but wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of the Secrets properties. I think the Secrets Square deals are a great option! My husband and I have been to Riviera Maya at least 6 times and it's really the only place enjoy going to AI resorts. We like the atmosphere, you get so much for what you pay for, and the service is usually incredible. Have a great trip!

I appreciate the information, schmerl and ShellD, just what I needed to know. We went ahead and booked the Secrets Square deal. So this is our first time to Mexico. Do you any suggestions, maybe sights we shouldn't miss? We love history & archeological sites, not interested in shopping or nightlife. We won't be renting a car and would be interested in smaller, specialty tour companies. We'll be there Feb. 19-26th, any advice on weather & clothing?
