Sansa Airlines
There is one daily flight from Palma De Sur to San Jose that allows me 3 hours before my international connection. Is this airline pretty dependable? Do they cancel alot?
(I know it is probably best to get there a day earlier, but I would like to stay in OSA as long as possible.)

Go for it- Sansa is as safe as a small single engine puddle jumper can be. 3 hours is about perfect for international connections and Sansa is a short walk to the international airport. Weather would be the main reason for a cancelled flight hopefully.
If you look around airport porters wait at the incoming Sansa flights looking for people departing on international flights . They will walk over with you and haul your bags over as a service from the CR government. The tourism department does not want any last minute trouble that might affect your opinion on your vacation.
The porters wear uniforms and are inside the Sansa terminal. They will also help you pay your departure tax just don't forget to tip them.

Just got back and flew Sansa to Drake Bay. They were about 1 hour late on the way down and 1 1/2 hours late on the way back. The plane made an unplanned stop at another airstrip before picking us up. Someone at the hotel said Sansa is often late, but that may be about as late as they get. I think 3 hours should still give you enough time even if they are late, and it is true the terminal is right next to the international airport. As far as weather, it was raining on our return flight, so maybe that is why they made another stop. Sorry, probably not helping easing your mind, but wanted you to know my experience!

Just arrived home sunday a.m. from my 3 trip . I had flown sansa the first 2 trips without incident , this time we were with the kids so my husband was a bit more concerned with safety and did some research . Turns out NatureAir has a much better record and usually uses a Twin Otter . Perhaps take a look at their schedules ?

Just back from CR Thursday night. Sansa was over an hour late getting us from San Jose to Drake Bay earlier in the week. On Tuesday, we were supposed to leave Drake Bay but Sansa wouldn't land due to the rain; we heard the plane circle twice then leave. Had they been on time that morning for our departure, we probably could have gotten out of there. Instead we had to go back to the hotel for another night, change our flights, cancel hotel and a day trip elsewhere. Nature Air landed/took off from same "airport" a little earlier in the day, by the way. We would go with Nature Air next time. Can't blame Sansa for wanting to be safe, but also can't help think that if they had been on time, it would not have been an issue. OTher guests and some of the locals all said Sansa was fine, but they had better things to say about Nature Air.
