i have narrowed down my lodging choices to the following:
landings at tres cocos
xanadu
cocotal
i originally wanted to stay at victoria house but i realized i could save more than $100 per night by staying at a place that's got its own kitchen and probably more space. don't get me wrong - VH looks wonderful but i'm also trying to manage my budget so i can afford a few nice meals and activities
has anyone stayed at any of these places i listed above? i'd love to hear your feedback.
all of their rooms have kitchens which sounds great. what's important to me are access to bikes or at least golf cart rental and convenience to markets/town without being too noisy. your advice / recommendations are appreciated!

I haven't stayed at any of the properties mentioned, but, here's a few thoughts.
The Landings at Tres Cocos are very nice condos, I've been in a couple units. Nice pool areas, cute little beach bar on site. Not really a beach. Just over the bridge from town, maybe a mile to downtown San Pedro. If you have a golf cart, it's US$5.00 for the toll (roundtrip). I think bikes are a dollar or so, walking is free. No beach to speak of, there's a sea wall in front of the property. When last I was on the island (April), there were some unfinished condos across the road that are sort of an eyesore. I have no idea if any construction has taken place since then.
Xanadu is about 1 1/4 miles from the center of town. It has a nice tropical feel to the place. Personally, although I've never been in the units, I think the units in the back would seem dark. There's just so much foliage back there, there isn't much sun. Xanadu has one of the few heated pools (may even be the only one) on the island. Once again, there's a sea wall in front of the property. I confess to being biased towards this property, since this is the neighborhood I live in when I'm on the island.
Cocotal I'm not nearly as familiar with. It's several miles north of town. If it's been raining, the road will be very muddy. People love the place, but, I like being easy walking distance (and I consider a mile, easy) to town.
I'd also look at Coral Bay Villas (where I own) and Caribbean Villas.
thanks for your advice and honesty, JeanH. i have looked into caribbean villas but there's a 5 night min stay. we plan to stay 3 or 4 nights. coral bay villas look lovely too but i can't find any good pics of the room interiors. i feel like i need to see the rooms in more detail so i can make an educated decision.
