San Jose, Costa Rica

I'm traveling with a group for a photography workshop in January 2015 and we will be staying at Luna Lodge. I'll be flying into San Jose the day before I meet up with my group. I'm looking for recommendations for where to stay in San Jose, preferably close to the airport because I'll be flying by charter plane to Luna Lodge the next day. I'm not looking for budget accommodations. I would prefer a nice hotel. Looking forward to hearing your recommendations.

Last year my husband stayed at the Marriott Courtyard at the airport both the night he landed and the night before leaving. He said it was very nice and the service great.

Xandari or maybe Villa San Ignacio for something more Costa Rican in flavor while also fairly close to the airport.

Grano de Oro is nice historic hotel if you're looking for a city hotel. Or Xandari if you want something pretty and up in the hills. We've also stayed at the Marriott, and it was much nicer than I was expecting with a colonial feel to it and good restaurants.

I Love this hotel-the best! It's always confused with the courtyard. If you can afford it, treat yourself to a night here.A great place to walk around the grounds, wonerful restaurant and breakfast buffet.
We have enjoyed it twice. There is an airport shuttle.

That's the one we stayed in. I was surprised to see wild green parrots in the trees around the pool. Really nice.
