Greetings!

I have a quick question and I would like some advice and suggestions. I am planning my honeymoon (mid June) and I am leaning toward three destinations in Cancun and surrounding areas: Royal Hideaway, Adventura Spa Palace, and the Moon Palace. I have had a co-worker and a very close friend tell me they really enjoyed the Moon Palace. I have been to trip advisor and read a gazillion reviews on each of the resorts. I'm looking for an AI that has great food and service. I?m leaning towards the Royal Hideaway but I have a couple of reservations: 1. Some have said the atmosphere is stuffy, 2. The restaurants appear to very gourmet and my fiancé is a picky eater (although she likes to eat a lot). Any helpful advice? I am planning to book my reservations soon. Thanks a bunch!

IMO Moon Palace is very nice, but very large and does have some conferences going on a most times.

Didn't think the RH was "stuffy" at all, actually a fairly young crowd since there are a lot of honeymooners (we're early 40's) Also, yes, the food is gourmet, but not weird-gourmet, if you know what I mean -- there is plenty of variety so even a picky eater should be able to find lots to eat, the breakfast buffet has zillions of choices and each restaurant has many selections. I don't think the other two can compare, RH is head and shoulders about the pack of other AI's.

If you can afford the Royal Hideaway and since it is your honeymoon then the only choice is the Royal Hideaway. The Palace resorts are nice but the food is mediocre at best. Plus the Moon Palace is so big that the quality of the food suffers. The Palace resorts are not in the same league as the RH.

Royal Hideaway.....there is no comparison.Its KINDA like comparing Holiday Inns to Four Seasons.Yes, I have been to RH AND one of the Palace resorts.I had a great time at both..Palace for a post-college adventure..and RH for a romantic get-away.No stuffiness,good food,and Im also a bit selective(tell your fiance she can get anything she wants at the pool..nachos,sandwiches,etc...I did)Also , at RH ,kids arent allowed thus there werent any.Great service...its just really different atmoshere from the Palaces.If money isnt a factor,there should really be no question. Have fun!

My wife and I will be returning to RH for our 4th visit in Feb., and I can't begin to understand why someone would think it's stuffy. Yes, it is upscale and the level of service is very high, but I have never, ever felt as if there was a "snobbish" air there.
I have done quite a bit of traveling, and I can say that for a week of pampering, excellent food, and top flight service, RH is unequalled in Mexico. I spent a couple of nights at the then-new Spa Palace a couple of years ago and while the gym and spa are absolutely breathtaking, the downsides are very mediocre food and an enormous physical plant with almost 1000 rooms (as opposed to 200 or so at RH). If the "activities" are your top priority, then by all means, go to the Spa Palace. If, on the other hand, you want a more laid back, sybaritic experience WITHOUT pretension, the RH is an easy choice.
By the way, the best rates I have found for RH have been at www.travel-center.com - well below "rack rates" or even allegedly discounted rates at sites like hotels.com and expedia.

I second the advice of using travel-center.com. I recently booked a vacation at Rh for April using that site==prices were well below anything I found elsewhere. After making reservation on their site, I got an email from them with their confirmation number and then the next day a hotel confirmation number. I contacted the hotel directly and everything was in order.
