Dear Saul,

We loved the Pueblo Bonito Rose in Cabo San Lucas. Six blocks from town and very beautiful, quiet and romantic. Definately an upscale hotel although it might be converted to timeshares by now. I did not find Cabo San Lucas to be touristy at all......not like Cancun. This hotel was not a party place although partying is available 6 blocks away! It reminded me of a sleepy fishing village. It had THE MOST gorgeous pool area of anywhere I have ever been, and I have been everywhere.

My husband and I will make our 3rd trip to the Cabo area on Jan. 30. The first time, we stayed at the Melia Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, did the tourist scene, etc. We have since purchased a timeshare at the Cabo Real (also part of the Melia Hotel chain). It is located on the "corridor" 1/2 way between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. We love it out there...quiet, beautiful deserted beaches to walk (we found recently hatched turtles last year), and if you like golf...there are several world class courses right next door. We still go into Cabo San Lucas occassionaly for lunch, but we prefer the old-world charm and restaurants of San Jose. One exception is the Blue Turtle Restaurant in Cabo San Lucas....it is by far our favorite and the owner Enrique and his entire staff are very personable.

I hope someone who has been there since Hurricane Juliette hit (last Sept.) will bring us up to date on what kind of damage may occurred. The "official" web site for the area is not providing honest info.
